We work to make our website as accessible as possible for all users, regardless of disability or technology limitations. Navigation Aids

1. Access keys are used to make it easy to jump directly to frequently used pages.
2. An option to 'Jump to top of page' available at the bottom of each page for ease of use.

Links

1. Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target.
2. Links are written to make sense out of context.

Images

1. All images on our website include descriptive ALT attributes that describes the contents or function of the image, where appropriate.
2. All images are optimised for fast download times and modem browsing.

Access Keys

The following UK government recommended access keys are used:

• S - Skip to content.
• 1 - Home page.
• 0 - Access key details.
• 8 - Terms and conditions.

Also the following access keys are used:

• C - Contact details.
• R - Privacy policy.

Depending on your browser type use one of the following:

• Internet Explorer 5+: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key, then press ENTER.
• Internet Explorer 4: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key.
• Internet Explorer 5+ for Mac: Hold down the CTRL key and select the number/letter of the access key
• Internet Explorer 4.5 for Mac: Access keys are not supported.
• Mozilla: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key.
• Netscape 6+: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key.
• Netscape earlier versions: Access keys are not supported.

Visual design

1. This website uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
2. Our website uses relative font sizes which can be resized in your browser.
3. Where colours are used we have tried to make sure there is maximum contrast between foreground and background items.
4. If your browser or reading device does not support style sheets, all content is still readable and grouped / displayed in a logical order.

Non-visual design

For visitors using assistive technologies the following features are included.

1. Every page has a 'Skip to content' link at the top of the page to allow users to jump straight to the main content of the page.
2. Links proceeding a section to skip to the next section.
3. Each page has 'Jump to Main Navigation' and 'Jump to top of page' links located at the bottom of each page.
4. All the pages on our website are "device independent" and can be navigated by using a keyboard, mouse or combination of the two.

Abbreviations and Acronyms

1. All pages include the necessary code to describe the meaning for each abbreviation and acronym, or at the very minimum; the first occurrence of.
2. Browsers that don't support the highlighting of abbreviations and acronyms are highlighted with a dotted underline.

Standards compliance

1. All pages on this site are WCAG-A and WCAG-AA approved, complying with all priority 1 and priority 2 rules of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This is a judgment call; many guidelines are intentionally vague and can not be tested automatically. We have reviewed all the guidelines and believe that all pages are in compliance.
2. Most pages/areas also conform to WCAG-AAA, complying with priority 3 rules; although the work to attain full AAA status is ongoing. We welcome any feedback you may have.
3. All pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional . For example, check the home page for XHTML validity.
4. All pages on this site validate as well formed CSS . For example, check the site for CSS validity .
